- Reviewed in the United States on January 22, 2019As a current grad student looking for a full-time job, this book was incredibly useful for me! I particularly loved the way each chapter is full of tips and detailed examples to better illustrate the author's point. This book breaks down each step in the process and will give you the tools you need to network successfully (so many examples of questions to ask and tips for how to navigate a coffee chat!). I earmarked at least one page in every chapter to refer back to as I go through the steps of my current job search and even once I start a new job. In addition, I really appreciated the layout and style of this book, which makes it very easy to use as a handy guide. It's organized in chronological order of the steps you should take from finding a job you love to succeeding in it. The layout is also very helpful as it includes lots of bullet points and headers to make using it as a reference infinitely easier. Whether you're actively job hunting or even just dissatisfied with your current job, this book will definitely alleviate some of the stress associated with the job search by giving you clear step-by-step guidance and the tools you need to find a job you love. After reading this book, not only do I feel more confident that I will find a job I'm excited about if I just follow the steps but I also believe that it's worth holding out for a job that fits with my values and priorities!
- Reviewed in the United States on September 22, 2018This book has great tactical advice about how to apply for and get a job that you'll love (ex. How to create a stand-out LinkedIn Profile, The Best Resume, How to Network...), but it's really about figuring out what you want to do with your life. There's a self assessment chapter that helped me step back and go through a discovery process around what I really want. The author is a job search veteran and has interviewed tons of other successful people to uncover both why people like their jobs and the 'rules of the game' for getting hired. I plan to give this as a gift to graduates at the beginning of their careers but also to the many people in my life who are still searching after decades of work. Whatever your stage of the job search or career, this book is both thought provoking and has great actionable advice.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 24, 2020Who knew kids nowadays might have 18 or 20 jobs over their lifetime? How to find those jobs has changed radically with the advent of online tools such as Linked In. Heather Hund takes you through today's job search process step by step. Fabulous insight for those of us who seldom changed jobs.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 4, 2018I was so impressed by this book! It is an easy read and I flew through it. Having recently had a year off from work, I found a lot of the tips and advice extremely relevant and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone thinking of, or currently making a change. The resources are extremely helpful too.
- Reviewed in the United States on November 13, 2020Fantastic book to read at any stage of your career! This book takes your through every aspect of your job search and gives you guidance around success once you land the role.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2019This book is WOW. I read the introduction and it really resonated with me. I read one part about LinkedIn and I used the advise to update my profile. I've just started but I can envision the greater benefits to come from this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on September 13, 2018The Art of the Job Search is the perfect book for young adults trying to network, determine professional areas to pursue, understand the job application process and overall have an understanding of what employers are looking for in future employees. The book provides a great balance of how to be as persuasive as possible in the application, and interview, process while understanding the candidate selection process needs to be a two way street, and you as the candidate need to fit well with the company and be passionate about the mission and future of the company.
The book provides great information for someone at the outset of thinking about new job opportunities and then helps step by step as the job process continues. An overall amazing book that is helpful, reassuring, and is sure to be beneficial as your professional career develops!
